2000 Audi A4 Power Steering Leak

I just bought a 2000 A4 2.8 V6 and the guy who sold it to me said it has a power steering leak. There is fluid leaking out by the front passenger tire every time i try and fill up the fluid it has a significant leak until the fluid is gone then the power steering makes a loud noise after its almost empty. so i am assuming this is a power steering leak? I dont know how to fix this and if anyone could help or tell me if thats what it is that would be great. I am pretty sure thats it but it seems like a funny spot to be leaking from?

It's not a funny spot, that is where the rack is!
It will have blown an end seal.
If its a major leak like you say, then the only solution is to pull the rack and either put new seals in it, or recondition it (or replace it).
Removal is a bit of a job, but can be done DIY...

My 2000 had the same issue and it was just the flex hose from pump to rack. The oil would run its course on the engine tray and leak in a different spot so had a hard time figuring out where it was. I had a tech do it for me..didnt have to remove the rack at all and part was reasonable online.
