2001 a4 locking question
Hey all, I just purchased an audi a4 and the ignition key does not work on the door and trunk locks, the remote on the key does not lock the car either. as a temporary solution I thought to use the lock switch on the driver door to lock the car and run wires from that to the outside so a button can unlock the car. I have searched for wiring diagrams and color codes but I'm not sure how I would wire a button to unlock the car. can anyone help me? this would ofcourse be temporary until I can get to a dealer to make a key to work with the outside or something.

You can rekey the locks yourself. Pretty easy. I did it on mine, as they were punched out when I got the car. There are 8 tumbler locations, and for each location a possibly of 4 different ones.
If you pull a few locks from the junker, you should have enough parts to make them work.

Taker door panel off first.
Disconnect wiring and control rods from lock, and rotate half moon clip to release lock from door.
The clip has a tab sticking out. Don't recall which direction to rotate, but it should be self explanatory.

Hi
I got the lock separated from the door, now how do I remove the lock cylinder from the assembly, I have searched online but cant seem to find a tutorial on how to. I used this video as a loose guide
however at 3:10 he skips how he start to take the assembly apart.

I don't quite recall what it all looks like. I also have prefacelift door handles.
But... to dismantle it, you press down on the locking plate, circular thing..... and rotate, to release it from the lock body. Hope that helps.

i am running the car around without a door handle can someone please tell me how i would go about disassembling this? if not, is there a way to make the car lock with the remote (i only have one key so idk how to reprogram it) if not, can the trunk lock cylinder lock the car? if so that might be easier to change?
