A4 1.8T. ENGINE PROBLEMS???

I HEARD THAT THE 1.8 TURBO ENGINE HAS MANY PROBLEMS AND NOT LONG LASTING COMPARED TO 2.8. IS IT TRUE? BECAUSE I CAN'T AFFORD TO BUY THE 2002 3.0. PLEASE SHARE YOUR EXPERIENCE, THANKS.

Properly maintained the 1.8 is a VERY dependable engine. (Note the judicous use of caps?)

Loud Howard, The 1.8T is exceptionally reliable...

Particularly in it's un modified state. The low pressure turbo and the iron block are a good match. The 1.8T drivetrain is pretty much bullet proof.

I believe you're mis-informed. If properly maintained, the 1.8 is rock solid.......

but get a 2.8 anyways =P
