Default A4 2000 changes?

I'm ready to order the 99.5 1.8QT soon and enjoy the modifications to the body I'm seeing. However I am willing to wait for the mechanical changes to the A4 currently being implemented in Europe (suspension, head air bags, brake adjustments, more wheel choices) if they are coming on the 2000 model which I could order late this summer or fall. The head airbags are important to my wife and I, although I know they need to meet U.S. standards still.
Anyone know or speculate if Audi is planning on offering these changes to the U.S. in 2000? Speculation is encouraged. I couldn't find much in the archives. Thanks in advance for responding.
David

Default Here's my speculation.

The cosmetic and interior changes will make it to the US. And I speculate that the mechanical changes will also - I find it hard to believe that they would install "old" parts on US only models.
But I wouldn't hold my breath on any of the options stuff - the navigation systems, the SAFEGUARD airbag systems, the new wheel options, the new headlights.
The only engines available will still be the 2.8 V6 and the 1.8T.
Thats my speculation. Don't hold me too it.
Matt
Which headlight changes are you refering to? Diablo Audi in Concord, CA gave me a US cutsheet on the changes (cosmetic) to the A4. Newly designed headlights were on there and being listed as in production for US (elipsoidal like A6). Are there other headlight mods?

Default Mid-year A4 1999 USA changes???

The lights are being changed this year, in fact from the present moment. I'm looking at an A4 and there is a four month wait. If I order one now, it will have the new lights (elliptical light, and foglight below the bumper) But my dealer claims that will be the only change, but I'm not quite sure he knows this for sure. Anybody seen a publication on mid-year changes to the 1999 A4?

I think Matt referes to the optional Xenon headlights (check out the A4 changes in a4.org).
By the way I agree with Matt the mechanical changes should make it to the US and Canada too.

Extra wheel choices? Probably not. They already get more choices in Europe (no wood in 2.8, more engines, non-auto climate control, etc.) that don't see the light of day in the US

According to this list every little change in the
exterior and interior is the same as in the German models but non of the mechanical changes! It does not
make any sense, why would Audi not implement the structural reinforcements, improved steering characteristics and suspension on the American models? I think this information is
hidden purposely by AoA until the first cars arrive. You can see the cosmetic changes in photographs etc., but you cannot tell how the mechanical changes will affect the car (can't test drive it). Perhaps AoA are afraid that people will not order their cars until they can test drive a new 99.5.
