A4 with ABS Problem

I posted earlier about how I was think of buying an 99 A4 1.8t that when I took the second test drive had it's ABS light on. I had the codes run on the computer and this is what I got:

Controller: 8E0 614 111 A
Component: ABS/EDS 5.3 Quattro D00
Coding: 0273004284

1 Faults Found:
01203 - Electrocal Connection between ABS and Instrument Cluster
03-10 - No Signal - Intermittent

Has anybody else had this problem? How much did it cost to have fixed or what was the problem?

well, why cant they fix it before you buy it...

could be the cluster or the ABS control module.

either way... $$.

If it's the ABS controller, $$$$. had mine replaced under warranty. IIRC, it was ~$2k parts/labor.

You should be able to source one from a junkyard in the $200-300 range.

Check the fuses, just in case it's a simple fix.

I had that code and replaced the ABS controller/pump

All good now. I bought my replacement pump off car-part.com for $95 + shipping.

on my sister's 99 1.8t, she had to get her ABS unit replaced

Re: ABS light on after I replaced bearing.

I found i couldn't remove the abs from the bearing housing but only after I tried to pull it off as well as give it a tap from the inside. Finally, I disconnected the one abs plug from the system. Is there a reset button, or have I buggered the sensor?
