A4 alarm observations and q's...
I was outside busily scotchguarding my car this evening. To facilitate drying the inside of the car, I left all the windows rolled down and just armed the alarm to feed my paranoia while I went inside for dinner.
Before I went, I realized that I'd never actually set the alarm on my car off before! I hadn't even heard what it sounded like. Heh. Anyhow, so I started my exploration of the alarm system. A couple things I discovered:
a) I successfully reached in the window and opened the passenger door without the alarm going off. I didn't think to try sitting down inside. Next time I'll try that.
b) I grabbed roof rail and shook the car mightily without the alarm going off.
c) When I waved my hand directly in front of the motion sensor on the driver side, the alarm finally went off. The first thing I noticed was that the honking wasn't coming from the car horn? It sounded like it was coming from the rear quarter panels somewhere. Anyone know where the alarm horn is located? Is it the same as the car horn? I'm now confused.

Thanks!

I believe the interior motion sensor initially determines the baseline level of activity and only reponds to significant deviations from that baseline, which is probably why you had to work hard to set off the alarm after arming it with windows open.
Also, I like the quick, subtle feedback beep for successful arming, as well as the loud but not overly annoying alarm sound itself.
The handy button for disabling the interior motion sensor is great for pets.
I have have never had a false alarm (unless I forget to disable motion sensor with dogs in car, etc).
