A4 Overheating
Ok here goes. Myhead gasket on my Subaru blew last week so I am paranoid now. Last week my exhaust started to leak at the flex pipe on my 98 A4 1.8T it has gotten worse but still isnt super loud. But this morning my car overheats whenever i drive it on the road. In the driveway the car will run for 30 minutes get up to 90 degrees and stay there. I have lots of heat, the coolant is clear and pink like it should be, the upper rad hose gets nice and hot...Could the exhaust leak be causing the turbo to overheat?

No..there is no coolant loss in the system.
I am going to go out and check the lower rad hose a little later..
And pressure doesnt build up quickly in the expansion bottle like a head gasket problem would inicate

well If I were you get the water pump tb and thermo replaced asap
if the timing belt tensioner fails your motor will be toast. please search the archive and see that this happends to a4s all the time.
If I am correct to assume you have the 1.8t motor then you are over 10k miles past the factory recommendation and about 40k pest what most people on this board recomend for this service.
it will cost about 600 bucks to have it done with 200 of that money for parts. if you cant pay that I wouild sell the car today. many people do the work themself but unless you feel confident working on your car I would not try it.
I'm not trying to me rude but you are on borrowed time as it is. be glad the water pump or t-stat failed before the tb let go or you would be buying a new engine.
