ABS?
I have a 2000 A4 1.8t At first the ABS light would come on solid with the flashing brake light intermittently. Now it just comes on every-time I start the car. Talked to the mechanic he said it was the ABS module for sure, without plugging anything into the car. Could it be any other sensor or anything? Just would like to replace the cheaper parts first before the actual module itself.

99% of the time it IS the ABS module that's gone out in these cases...
You do realize that people knew how to fix cars before computers, right? =)
Depending on what kind of scanner the guy has, he won't be able to read the ABS computer anyway. I believe only a VAG 1552 etc, or VAG COM can access that control module. And, if the ABS controller is truly bunk, no scanner will be able to communicate with it, or the engine module, till you unplug the ABS controller. Just so you know.

He might be right. The way I understand, if there's a faulty ABS sensor, you'll get the warning
light not at startup but after driving off (that's when sensor info is being read/analyzed by the ABS module).
However, if, as in your case, the light comes on immediately after you start the car, it is more than likely the ABS module itself that's faulty.
