ABS problems...

My '98 1.8TQA has had the BRAKE lamp on and the ABS lamp blinking for quite a while. I VAG and only found code 18021-MIL Control Circuit-Open or Short to plus, P1613-3510 Intermitent. Braking has been normal so far. What could be the problem? Thanks.

yank the ABS Sensor and clean it....clear the code...see if it comes back

you need a new ABS unit

many are now failing
audi may open a recall on these

my abs were screwed up since i got the car

when they worked, they were too touchy, and when they did not the yellow abs light would be on. i hate abs to begin with so this is what i did. pulled #7 fuse for abs, but then this caused the blinking brake light also. so out of sheer aggravation at the time i pulled the instrument cluster, and covered the offending light sockets with tape, while i was in there i also removed that annoying chime speaker. so no more lights and no more annoying chime when you have the key on and the door open etc. i know this is not the right thing to do, and now that i think about it the abs sensors on the calipers are probably corroded. since the car was a light flood vehicle. i'll get around to cleaning them eventually, but as i said i hate abs and would rather not have them at all.
