AC blower problem
AC blower problem
Hi guys, my a4 2010 AcC blower working during the summer months but dead once the weather is cold, is this likely to be the thermostat? Any ideas please

Hi, thanks for your mail. yes it started in the winter and it never worked all though the winter. Then, in the last few weeks it started up running again and is currently working fine, I'm not sure if the heat temperature is properly working but the blower is fine

Have you scanned the climate control module for error codes? Is your exterior temperature on your dash fluctuating randomly? It may be your ambient temperature sensor or cabin air sensor that is going out. Your A/C may also be low on refrigerant.

Hi, Doug, thanks for your reply. I'm afraid I'm a complete amateur and really know much about electronics. The dash temperature seems ok but it could be the refrigerant might need refilling but how do you do that or do I need5to take it to the dealer? It's just strange that it works in warmer weather and noth8in winter, I would say that the temperature doesn't reach ambient temperatures

For scanning you would have to get VCDS or find someone who has it to scan that module. It is well worth it if you have a lap top. Bayou can use the free version and a cheap eBay cable. You can’t use a generic code reader as it will only read the ECU.
As for refilling, I bought a refill kit and did it myself. If you go this route, check to make sure the pressure is in the Blue (good) area and not low.
As for winter vs summer, if you think about it, if the ambient temperature is significantly lower than the inside temp and you are trying to lower the inside temp, all it has to do is blow cold outside air in to cool your cabin. As it gets hotter outside, the difference between outside temp and inside temp is closer so the system needs the A/C to cool the interior. This is just a theory and may not be how the actual system works.
