ADDING A POWERED SUBWOOFER TO A NON-BOSE SYSTEM

Thanks to Pavlik, Pincus, and Shark for the forums on adding subwoofers. Their instructions are worth gold. It was a pretty easy install. I ran into a few snags, but nothing big. If you're adding an amplified bass tube, or an amplifier to a non-Bose system, you might run into two brown wires with red stripes instead of one. One wire will be twisted with the right speaker lead, one will be twisted with the left speaker lead. The RCA cables will probably have two common leads, not one. After you strip the wires, twist the outer bundles on each wires, then strip the common ground wire that's in the middle. It will probably be covered with a clear/white insulation. Strip that off, and twist those together. Connect the common ground on the left channel to the brown with red stripe wire that's twisted with the left speaker lead. Connect the common ground on the right channel with the right speaker lead. All this should be done to the wires that are going in to the amp. I just wanted to give a little input. All in all, it went well. The sound is better with the added bass. I'm sure I'll want to upgrade in a year or so.
