Adding to/replacing Bose system

Does anyone have any experience with upgrading, adding to, or replacing the bose stereo system in the A4? I have a JL 12w3V2 subwoofer and xtant amp left over from my last car and would like to potentially put it into an A4 which has the bose package. I would be planning on also having an alpine headunit. Is it better to just replace everything?

yes, just replace everything..both better and easier...

You can run an aftermarket head unit through the Bose system. I do it. You can then use the Alpine's line level outs for the amp and sub. However, you won't be able to run the Bose speakers through the Xtant amp. The Bose speakers and amps are a matched set. What year car do you have? I can give you a pretty detailed explanation for replacing the Bose head with an aftermarket head if you have a Delta radio.

suggest a head unit that will match the interior?

I'd like to find one that has the same orange lighting as the rest of the displays. Anyone have any suggestions?

Well I was planning on having the xtant amp run my JL subwoofer as it did in my previous car. I would probably be buying an ALPINE CDA 9835 which has the 512 color choices to match the buttons to the interior. The year of the a4 is 1998.

yup, you still have the Delta radio

You shouldn't have a problem using even the stock system to run your sub through your amp. I just wanted to let you know you can't replace the Bose amp running the interior speakers without replacing the speakers. Anyway, I'll look up the writeup I did on installing an aftermarket head if you like. It's a pretty good walkthrough considering I was a novice when I started and have learned everything as I've gone along.
