Default advice needed

Ok I just brought my car in for a couple things that were happening on my 98.5 a4

control arm was making a noise, which they later told me was caused by the sway bar becoming loose, which they later blamed on me. Btw i never touched the sway bar on this car EVER.

The cup holder (flip out kind) has dropped half and inch into the console.

Exhaust was rattling due to an exhaust braket breaking.

Total $940

He said my warrenty covered nothing because the parts were broken not defective. What do you guys think besides i am getting raped !

Default i think the sway bar should have been covered assuming you never touched it or messed with your...

suspension and probably the same thing with the exaust. i dont know though i guess every dealer is different. i have broken stuff that was clearly my fault (blew out a speaker becuase too much base) and they fixed it without question. other then that i can't really help you.

Default I think you need to be more specific (about your car, your mods, and the faulty parts).

How many miles on it? I'm trying to determine if this is covered under Audi Advantage (up to 3/4 yrs or 50K depending on model year) - probably not for a 98.5, or Audi Assured (which has different rules that I'm not aware of), which is not as comprehensive as Audi Advantage.

What would lead them to believe you DID touch the swaybar? Installing an aftermarket exhaust might be one thing...installing an aftermarket suspension might be another reason they are suspicious.

Do you have an aftermarket exhaust? If not, then what do you mean by exhaust bracket leaking? Was the faulty part a factory part or not? If you do have an aftermarket exhaust, and one of the clamps came loose, you can't expect a factory warranty to cover that.

Default Re: I think you need to be more specific (about your car, your mods, and the faulty parts).

my car is basically stock except for chip, and brake upgrade. I just went to the dealer and the service advisor sat there and told me that Audi doesnt cover broken parts, only defective ones. He said bc he thought i was the cause of the broken cup holders and that someone had tampered with the sway bar they couldnt cover it. The car is covered by the audi assured warrenty for another 5k miles (75000). The exhaust has some kinda bracket that holds it the to under carriage of the car, it was broken and they wont cover that either (stock exhaust). So honestly what good is a warrenty if it doesnt cover anything !

Default Well, regarding the exhaust, another guy on the A6 forum just posted similar results today...

See the post linked below. Wear and tear (rusted out) is basically what it boils down to. Cupholder...same thing, but that's something I think they could look at either way. The control arm...sounds like you got screwed. I might have gone to another dealer because of that one, but it's too late for that now.

https://forums.audiworld.com/a6/msgs/223199.phtml</a
