Advice Please..
Also, the 8.5% calculation is only a guess, since I cannot find a place to give me '01 invoice prices. Can anyone recommend an accurate website to find the actual invoice (including options) prices?
One last thing, since there are only 2 dealers in the Minneapolis, MN area, is 8.5% an acceptable number?

It is amazing how competitive dealers love to take the deal away from their competition. I would just go in with..."someone will want to do this deal, if you want it to be you then...." If not then fax dealer that are reasonable close and offer the same deal. Just take a drive.
As far as the $500, you can get that back and call off the deal. Then try to negotiate on another car. They probably won't want to renegotiate on the same car once they have struck a deal. But one never knows what a dealer will do when a "for sure" sale is about to walk to a competitor. They might not want to lose the business. Caution though, they might not want to deal w/ you at all, because it might appear that you can't make up your mind. Screw them though...this IS a buyers market nomatter how much they tell you it isn't.
Just did some calculations. If the car is about $29,000 sticker then that extra 3.5% equates to $1012 extra dollars in their pocket, your money.
With that I would say go for the better deal. You can also use an online service. I have heard people have had some successes with them. You might want to poll the forum. I just called dealers w/ a fair deal until someone bit, by chance the second dealer.
Lastly, if the dealer you are working with is your closest dealer, then you might want to consider service issuea and loaner cars. If you do not buy from this dealer they will probably service/warranty your car, but no as if you were one of their customers. And you can probably forget about a loaner unless you but from them.
My advise....try to renegotiate that extra $1000. Give then some ($300-500) of it and get the car. If it is the closest dealer, then service and loaners is a moot point. If they push back at all...screw them. I know a guy in Tampa that would love to sell you a car.
And you can tell you dealer that you found better price and either take you deposit back or renegotiate the deal. I did so.
