Alignment
It would seem to me that when you jack up the A4 the camber seems to be unafected throughout the suspension travel unlike other cars with strut type suspension. So why is it that when you lower it would yo need an alignment? I installed Eibach springs which lowered my car 1.5 in and the tire wear is perfect.

You can do what you want...but remember...alignment problems will not usually immediately show up. I have 1.5 degrees of negative camber on my fronts (with H&R coilovers) and only after about 12K miles did I notice any wear on the inside edges of my front tires. I put in H&R coilovers ....and then got it aligned...it was out of spec on several of the items...<p>I highly recommend the alignment...tires for these cars are not as cheap as the labor for an alignment. <br>Havent looked at an A4 susp yet however i just re-did my cousins suspension in his Jetta, which is a McPherson strut set-up. On this particular suspension, when removing the strut, there are two bolts that hold the strut against the spindle, one has a camber adjustment. When you re-install the new spring or shock, the bolt may or may not be in the same place as before, therefor eyou need to give the car an alignment. Pretty sure the same thing will happen to the A4susp, maybe in a diff way, unless you're really lucky.

The A4 has a 4 link suspension. The bearing carrier remains intact when replacing the shocks and springs and no misalignment is possible, if just replacing. The 4 link reference is to the 2-d (read suspension travel) frame. The spring and shock are just an input device, not part of the mechanism.<p>If the car is lowered, possible misalignment problems could exist.
