Alternator question....
I need to change the alternator in my 1.8t and was wondering, would it be fine to use a standard pulley on a car that was equiped with a freewheel pulley? The alternator is bad and I think the clutch pack has also gone bad...

There are two types of pullies...
Well, more than two, but in the case of the alternator of the 1.8t... You have a standard pulley which is just a round peice of metal, nothing to it... Then you have a freewheel pulley which has a clutch inside of it that will allow it to only spin 1 way and also keeps a smooth engagement of the alternator.... Also, what is the Alternator off of and where are you located? We are shipping the car Saturday and I need it done ASAP!
