Another ?

I park near a wall, so I see the upper border of the light beam. It has clearly defined 3 steps that rise from left to right like this:

Is this normal?

For 99.5 projector beams it's normal..more

I have a 99.5 2.8 Avant QMS. Each projector lamp (low beams) has the same step pattern, and they appear to be aimed so that the patterns merge at some point, perhaps a couple of car lengths ahead. At any distance less than the merge point you will see two separate images.

Unless these beams are aimed on exactly the same horizontal plane (not likely) you may see a slight step between the two beams when they're shining on a wall a few feet in front of the car, adding what appears to be a third step. If there is a large difference, you should have the dealer check the adjustment.
