Audi a4 2.8 30v engine code?

Default Audi a4 2.8 30v engine code?

I have a 1998 audi a4 quattro 2.8 30v, i would like to know how to tell which 2.8 i have because i know one of the codes is aha and i dont know what the other alternative is, but anyway, i would just like to know ho to tell if i have the aha or not.

The other is ATQ. Here is the link where I found it which goes on to say where to find the codes:

those entries told me to check the manual and under the hood near the emissions sticker, i did both but still no luck, isnt there something having to do with the vin numbers?

Ok, now when you get a sec have a look to see if there is a sticker in the spare tire compartment that says AHA or ATQ. Failing this eliastfx, I'm afraid I don't have any other suggestions. Sorry .

Look on the passenger head at the front on the top of the lifting eye.

ROBQ is right. Thats were you'll see the engine code. Its stamped on the front lifting eye (passenger side of engine)

Yours is the AHA, but there is an early version of the AHA that is different than the later AHA. In 98 you could have either. Remove the plastic engine covers and look at the PVC system. If there is a plastic vent pipe that goes across behind the coils and connects the two valve covers, you have an early AHA. If the pipe runs from the passenger side across behind the coil pack and to the rear of the car, it is the later more common AHA.
