Default Auto Door Lock Code

Have read tech that the US spec? A4 can be coded to lock/unlock doors automatically on some years. I asked my dealer and was told it can't be done on B5 only B6? I have a very late EURO B5 (last run maybe) how can I tell if it can be done - dealer may not be very clued up on codes - time for a change of dealer?

Default Question about that tech article...

What is the story with the second table of codes... the ones that apply to the different OEM radio types?

Is that stating that you can program those "packages" using the hidden features of the radio unit?

Default well...

but the values in the second table are the same as the first, only they have done the math for you. When you vag your lock control module (not related to radio at all) it has a value in it. For owners of cars with the symphony radio, the stock value is 16140. The use of the radio is really more to determine your built. They could have just as easily used build dates I would imagine, but, the radio was easier (Note, I may be incorrect as to the radio tie in. There really may be communication between the modules, although I highly doubt it). To change the code, you just add or subtract to get the values you want, all done in the VAG...

those packages are just common examples. There are actually more options out there, they just aren't useful. I spent an afternoon trying every possible one. You can turn off the blinking red door lights with a -128 IIRC.

Exactly. Radio is used for reference only to determine build type.

Default Another question... unrelated however.

Are you still running your Neuspeed 19mm rear sway on the firm setting?

Mine has been sitting in a box in my garage, awaiting the artic freeze to lift so that it can be installed.

I'm still debating what setting to install it on though... I think I'm gonna try soft at first, and see what I think.
