Auto Rx question....
I've been running M1 0-40 since I bought the car at 72,000 miles and am now at 97,000 miles. the PO said that he used M1 since new, but it did not look like it....
At about 94K, I pulled the valve cover to replace the Cam Chain tensioner and the Cams and surrounding parts of the head definately were coated with a layer of sludge.
So I was thinking about doing an Auto Rx treatment just in time for the engines 100,000 mile birthday.
My understanding is that you drain the oil and replace with a filter and Dino Oil and a can of Auto Rx. Drive for 2-3 kmi, and drain the dino, replace the filter and put M1 0-40 back in.
Is that right?
What kind of Dino oil do you recommend?
Where can I get Auto Rx?
What kind of difference has it made in your A4?
TIA
It will just break down some of the sludge and move it around the engine. It evaporates quickly and just re-deposits the sludge.
The proper way to use seafoam in the crankcase (at your next oil change)
Leave old oil & filter in the car.
Put 1/2 can of seafoam in the crankcase.
Run car for approx 10 mins until it gets up to temp.
Drain oil but leave old fiter on.
Put in a few quarts of cheap dino oil (I used 0w-20)
Put in the other half can of seamfoam.
Run car for another 10 minutes or so.
Change oil like normal.
