A4 (B5 Platform) Discussion Discussion forum for the B5 Audi A4 produced from 1995-2001 B5 FAQ

Is it bad to open the coolant reservoir when the engine is hot (i.e. parked about 15 minutes ago?)

Default afraid not =o\ i just doubt they would be using a plastic based resevoir to hold that much pressure

and high temp fluid... if it was a metal resevoir then that's one thing.

Default I know what you wrote is wrong - because it *was* under pressure - but

I just wanted to make sure I wasn't hurting the car. Fvck me, it's the car I'm worried about LOL LOL

As for the sig - I left room because I didn't know if I would be adding more text. Maybe I'll think of something to do with the space. At first I had the frames larger, but then the file was too big. Adobe Image Ready was a HUGE help in getting file size down because the gif is a back ground and only the little piece changes from frame to frame, not the whole thing being redrawn ... anyway ...

thanks for a cool idea, and we'll see what I can make of it.

Plastics can be engineered to withstand high temps and pressures.

Default i know it's gonna have some pressure, but i seriously doubt that it's as highly pressured as most

cars are... either way :P no need to do it while hot anyway.

Default That's what I was getting at, because it didn't boil over the top where my hand was, but

rather it released downward, from underneath where the tank bulges outward, as if there was a pressure-release valve allowing it to release away from me, instead of actually burning my hands, arms, whatever.
