blower motor speed
99.5 A4Q. Cold morning, after I drive about 4 minutes the Climate Ctrl gives me all the heat it is willing to give, but it never, under any circumstances, turns the blower up all the way. I can manually turn it up all the way.
I have a VAG-COM, is there any way I can set the HVAC module to use the highest speed of the blower motor?

Automatic/ or semi-automatic HVAC only goes high-speed when heat is at adequate level in coolant. Further more, if engine is at 90C and you set it to give you lets say 28C inside, and inside temp is very low, it will GRADUALLY up the air temp, thats what climate does different from simple AC. Even tough display shows 28C it will send air inside something like this: 23C, 24C, 25C....etc, untill it reaches temp. you set.
You cant force it to send 28C fixed inside when the temp inside is 5C (example) or lower. It gradually heats the air.
Making the HVAC send in the interior a temperature higher by 10C then the actual temperature that is inside will make your windows go blurry, thats a too fast tranzition.
Also the fan-speed is temperature controlled. I bet that driving for 15min, and you set it o HI or 28C temp, it will start blowing faster in time. Thats how mine does.
THe temperature you set on the HVAC display is not the temperature the air is gonna blow inside, that is the temperature you set the AC unit to heat the air inside to.

OK, didn't know all that. But.....in 1 year of driving my B5.5, I've never seen the CC call for full fan. Not a huge deal, guess it's just not going to.
Oh, and I live in Minnesota where winter temps are routinely -20 C and summer temps are 35 C.

Yeah, it never goes full unless you set it to defrost windshield, when it blows air to windshield so it defogs it.
I got -23C outside right now, i drove 1 hour ago and the same thing applied.
It all depends on how hot your engine is, preferably 90C.
Your AC compressor will never work when outside temp is below 5C, so its all up to the engine warming up.
If you want faster heating (roughly 15% faster) send air to feet only. But there`s risk of fogging the windows.
Setting a higher temperature inside wont make it hotter faster.
Thats the charm of climate control, its cold yet you never feel that sudden tranzition from cold to hot. Its all fluid...
