A/C Compressor Type

I have a '96 A4 2.8 that needs a new AC compressor. Is there an easy way to identify what type of compressor it is (there are 2 options for this year). If I put it up on ramps would I be able to see the manufacturer tag from the bottom?

VIN Split

I show a split by VIN.
Up to 8D-T-127954 Zexel
After 8D-T-127955 Denso

Quattro VIN numbers.
We have Denso's available if you need 'em.

Remove belly pan and the a/c compressor is on the passenger side. Just look up and u'll see it. It should have a few stampings/symbol of what brand it is.

What's the warranty, one year?Are the Densos upgraded at all?Pretty pointless if it'll just crap out

One year.

They are rebuilt Denso's, not upgraded to my knowledge.

Kinda wierd how my A/C kicks on the 20 year old Coupe GT but everyone's A4 dies.
