A/C troubleshooting

A/C troubleshooting
AC is not blowing cold.
I believe the compressor may be shot (occasional squealing at idle) but I'd like to explore all possibilities before jumping down that thousand-dollar hole.
VAGged - got these -

00779 - Outside Air Temp Sensor (G17)
30-00 - Open or Short to Plus
(I know what this one is about. Enough to kill AC functionality?)
00792 - A/C Pressure Switch (F129)
31-00 - Open or Short to Ground
(If this is associated assenger side plug on the radiator/AC condensor, yes, it is connected)

Failure has been gradual rather than sudden.
Freon level is good (high-side test)
