Default Cat Conv Question

How much lag will I loose if I use a test pipe, or should I gut the cat? The thing is right after the turbo, and I'd like to reduce some under-hood temps anyhow. And no, I'm not concerned with emissions, and I do know about using the spacer in the post-cat O2 sensor. It's an AWM (03 Passat FWD) by the way.

Default With the AWM engine, (K03 sport turbo) you will gain a significant amount ...

from Turbo Spoolup to higher RPM powerband, all good things..

Since you have the K03 sport, you will lose very little Low end Torque.

Test Pipe is a must have for an AWM!

Default my CAPS dropped by .4sec in every condition.

Not to mention the immediate boost response when running 100octane with the 100oct file.

Default I was thinking.....

Those four new coil packs I keep in the trunk.....when I get one that goes bad and the cat turns into an inferno it would be better to not have one at all anyway. Less heat under the hood is great too.

do you not gain as much with an ATW? is it the VVT that makes the difference?

ATW also came with the K03s, just didn't have the updated shaft.

Default PHead had a '97 with Test Pipe...gains weren't as "worth it"

Sure, it would haul (for a K03) up top...but the bottom-end went away, mid-range was the same. We did TP's on our '01's and everything from 2500rpm and up was stronger.
