Default CD Changer problems: please help!

I just installed a new Panasonic 8-disc, which works fine, except it skips like nobody's business.

I wonder if perhaps it has less cache than the 6-disc model, since it's cheaper.

I wanted to know what other company changers people have used with the factory head unit.

Thanks!!

Will it fit in the side mount where the panasonic slips in?

Default more details on using alpine with oem head units please...

what adaptor was used, what cd changer was used, what OEM head unit did you use it with, do you have direct access to all disks, how does the random function work, etc

Default Did you set BOTH sides of the directional slot correctly?

There's a slot on each side of the changer that tells it whether it's mounted in the horizontal or vertical position.
Check that.

Default Re: CD Changer problems: please help!

I installed a Panasonic CX-DP88U 8 disk changer in my 2001.5 1.8tqm last August, and have NEVER had a problem. I get access to disks 7 and 8 by going to the last track of disk 6 and have it roll over. i have read that there is a way to get direct access to disks 7 and 8 by using a combination of buttons, but it did not owrk for me.

As to your skipping question, I have not experienced this at all -- even on the 1.4 mile gravel road that leads to my house. My changer is mounted in the factory slot in the trunk -- maybe you have a defective unit?

How did you mount it since the holes are not both accessible with the 8-disc?

Default For direct access you press 5 twice and 6 twice, but you MUST have the right PIE adaptor

You need the AUD-PC/PAN8 model, not the model w/o the "PC" in it and it must be grounded properly. It's themore expensive adaptor (about $50).
