Charging system help needed.
I replaced my alternator with bosch 120A reman by Bosch. That was my 3rd time replacing it includeing 2 reman ones by autozone.
The 3rd still works the best among those 3, but the charging voltage seems still low, and I had chance to get some measurement on charging system.
With engine off, Bat+ to Bat- shows somewhere between 12.3~12.7 which seems OK.
With engine on, Bat+ to Bat- shows about 13.2 V
and I never seen higher than 13.6V.
With engine on, Alternator B+ to oilpan(engine body) shows surprising 14.4 V.
And I don't think it is normal. There seems too much Volt deffenrece between.
so I measured little more.
All the rest are measured engine off.
Alt ground to Bat+ 11.79V, Infinite ohms
Alt Ground to Bat- 0V, 42.7 ohms (200K)
Alt gound to Alt body 0V, 42.5 ohms (200K)
Alt B+ to Alt body 12.20V, infinite ohms
Alt B+ to Bat- 12.20V, infinite ohms
Alt b+ to Bat+ I think it was 0V, 2.0 ohms (200)
Bat+ to engine body 12.20V, infinite ohms
Bat- to engine body 1.0 ohms (200)
The last two are with ground wire on the bottom of the engine near alternator taken off
Bat- to engine body 1856 ohms (2000)
Bat- to engine body 0.38 V
Anyone has a clue what makes voltage difference with those data?
Do you need more measurement?
Thanks for your help.
