Chassis/bodyshell stiffness?

Chassis/bodyshell stiffness?
I seem to remember reading that the A4 Avant has a stiffer shell than the sedan. Does this mean the Avant handles better than the sedan, or does the added weight negate any possible advantage from a stiffer shell. Also seemed to remember that the Avant had more rear legroom. True or false?
