Check engine light...

I checked the archives, but can anyone tell me if the check engine light will go out by itself, or does it always need to be reset by the dealer? I may have overfilled the gas tank a bit last week. I then drove it about 2 miles to my house, where it sat in the garage for about 4 days. A little rough running this AM on startup, but I've had that before when starting it after it sat for a few days.<p>TIA,<br>CraigB<br>'98 A4 1.8T (TAP Stage 2)

Mine has been on twice. Once it went out on its own after a few days, and once the dealer had to reset it.
