Default Check Engine Light

I have an annoying check engine light I've been chasing around for months. Would appreciate the help. Here goes!

2000 FWD A4
148K miles
AWD engine code
Check engine light

codes are:
1.cylinder misfire (jumps around- not consistently the same ones.)

Parts I've replaced:

MAF
Injectors
Spark plugs (have not verified the gap mmmmm should do that)
Coil Packs
Primary and secondary O2 sensors
Cleaned Carbonio Air filter
Fuel filter about 10K ago

Oh yea, It's the only B5 that I know of with an APR Stage 3+. If there are others, let's talk. The car runs perfectly but this damn check engine light will keep me from passing inspection. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Default if you clear it... does it flash when it comes back? or just solid?

i.e. .. it's cleared... you're driving along;
1) the light starts flashing at you, then stays on solid

or

2) it just comes on solid

do you feel the car misfiring at all?

When I clear it it takes a few miles to come back on. The time it takes to come back on varies depending on the type of driving I am doing. City driving could be 20 to 80 miles. Highway driving can take 300+ before I see it again. It will come back on solid. It will occasionally flash but that only happens when I am cruising through my neighborhood and partial to no throttle. I don't seem to feel any difference in the way the car drives. The RPM's don't dip or anything. If I accelerate or rev the motor it goes away.

Default what plugs are you using and what gap? what software?

you're not the only APR stage 3+ on a B5 A4, but the first I've seen on a 2000 -- except maybe Ray Kahn, but I'm not 100% on his setup. The 3+ was meant for the 2001s.

Have you talked to APR?

Default few things:

1) I have the same setup. I blew my motor on this setup. Had a misfire issue as well. Do a compression test

2) how is your boost? are you holding or is it dropping off? might have a leak

hey, glad to hear there is another 3 plus out there. i used to work at apr and have spoken with tom. he thinks, with the millage, i could use a bg service. thinks there could be carbon build up around the valves that is causing the misfires. he also said to check the gap. not sure what they are right now. have you found a gap that works well for you?

Default .028 seems to be the sweet spot. NGKs are boxed at .032 and typically work for stock/chip, but

the bigger turbos often need to be gapped down a bit.

I run NGK BKR7E (Part Number 6097) every 5k with oil changes. -- which brings up the questions...what plugs, how old, and at what gap? This could be as simple as $2 spark plugs and a gap tool.
