Check engine light blinking and engine shaking....
I was pulling into a parking spot and as i was about to put the car into park i felt this really bad shaking and i didnt think anything of it and i just turned the car off..When i got back into my car and it was shaking i noticed the check engine light was flashing..I slowly drove the car home and got it towed. The shop said that a valve cover gasket deteriortating was leaing oil in the cylinder..i went to pick up the car after they reapllaced 250$ worth of parts and i didnt even shut the door it was still happening..Anyone have ANY thoughts???

Shop took you for a ride...
Hate to say it, but take it to a dealer, or have someone local vag the car to scan for codes. (search for "vag locator" to find someone near you with a vag.com).

if its a 1.8T you are probably one of the following, these are the most common problems.
bad spark plugs

The shop said that a valve cover gasket deteriortating was leaing oil in the cylinder..
that isnt even possible, and if thats exactly what they said to you .... they think you are a dumbass.
VALVE COVER GASKET covers the camshafts which operate the valves. When a VCG is leaking oil leaks out from the sides of your valve cover.
I just replaced mine on my 2.8 V6... its not very hard, parts for my car were $40 at the dealer... online they are $19 for the 2.8 gaskets.
Now if they said your head gasket was bad... thats another story... THose can be rotted out sometimes by using the wrong coolant.

It was the dealer that itook it to and they replaced both sparkplugs and coilovers.The last i spoke to them they said it was some computer chip or something. Its a 99.5 1.8t with about 65000m on it. Its in excellent shape and havent ever had any major problems like this before
