check engine light & stuttering engine
So I'm waiting at a light tonight on my way home from work and my engine suddenly sounds like it's running on two cylinders. The timing is off and the car is shaking like crazy. There's barely enough power to get the car upto 40 mph. The engine light is flashing so I loop it up in the manual and it says that the catalytic converter may be bad? Any other thoughts?

Re: flashing light is very bad. Don't drive it. It's not the cat from what you described.
That's not very reassuring. Looks like I need to figure out how to get AAA to give me a tow. I _think_ I received a four year membership when I bought the car...

you shold be able to get a tow (road side assistance) from audi free of charge. heck, my step dad
once got them to change a flat tire for him

Do NOT panic.... Had the same problem last month.
I limp mode to the dealership.
Its a coil pack gone bad....
Can u get a hold of a scaner or Vag tool?
U have codes P0301, P0302, P0303, or P0304
P0301 is misfire detected at cyl#1....P0302 is misfire detected at cyl#2....etc

sorry for the bad news. But my dealer told me.....
that a solid engine light is OK and is usually an emmissions problem. Flashing could be much worse. Call the number in your manual AoA gave me a free tow with roadside assistance once.

No VAG tool around. The dealer is less than 10 miles away but it may take me 45 minutes to get there in the morning if I drive. I'm looking for the AoF number as I type...
