Default Which chip??

Just got into the chipping game. I have a 98 A41.8T Quattro. Which chip seems to produce the best results? Anyone...?
Default TAP appears to be best..

From all the posts I've been reading over the past couple of months, TAP's chip appears to be the only chip that doesn't ping(detonate). I plan on going TAP when my A4 comes in.

Default The mother of all questions...a little input...

Here we go...
Which chip seems to produce the best results?
That word alone is open for interpretation ("best"). Your best may mean most HP, mine may be most low-end torque. As far as head to head, there hasn't been one well cited, that I know of. Most chip owners will say theirs is good, but few have experienced two different chips in the same car minutes apart, to trully differentiate. Hopefully we'll get some input from one of the A4.orgers, he currently has Wett and is thinking of trying Garrett's chip. Now that will be a true head to head, although it would be from his opinion, it tends to be fair.
No matter which chip your talking about, they all give a very significant extra "kick in the A$$", as they say. Your best bet may be to see who's local to you so that a tech can actually help you with problems in person. If you have to go mail order, good luck choosing. :-)
Which ever one you choose, there will definitely be a big grin on your face the 1st time you hit that on ramp!

Default Chips and pinging

I have read about very noticeable perfromance drops with hot ambient air temps such as over 90-95 degrees. Maybe soem of the "no-ping" chips simply reduce boost/spark advance more and more aggressively than others. If so, I think that heat soak related things such as intercoolers, heated intake manifold/throttle, etc are the underlying issue. In other words if your 200 hp chip cuts you down to 160, maybe you won't ping but I'd rather solve the heat related issues so that more performance can be retained.
Stan

Default Then why is that 43% of those surveyed use Wett?

Wett chips seem to have way more than 43% of the problems, though.
