Many owners of the 1.8T engine ask, "what chip should I get?", or "what chip is best?" There is no single correct answer to this question, as there are many happy users of chips manufactured by various companies. APR, Neuspeed, Garrett, Autothority, Wetterauer, T.A.P. and others all make chips for the 1.8T that reliably provide that sought-after additional turbo boost. Recently, APR's latest ver. 3.0 1.0 bar chip has been receiving a lot of attention on the A4 Forum, largely because it is the newest and recent purchasers of it have been effusive with their praise. The same could be said for Wetterauer some months ago. Tomorrow attention may shift to another company's chip. So goes the "flavor of the month" discussions on the Forum.

As of this writing no company has released a chip for the '00 1.8T, so no recommendations can be provided to '00 owners at this time. However, there is a wealth of chip information available in the AudiWorld archives, and on the web, for '99.5 and earlier 1.8T models.
