Chip question

I understand that if i chip my 98.5 1.8T a4 it will put more stress on the engine, but to what extent?

I guess my question is if, lets say hypothetical, i chip my car but do run it hard (dont accelerate hard and shift at 3000rpm), how much stress do you think the chip will add to the car?

All depends...

how heavy is your right foot?

You will tend to have a heavy foot after chipping the Audi.

Stress all depends... how well is your vehicle maintained? What type of oil do you use? How often do you change your oil? Keep up with regular maintenance?

Believe me, you won't drive it at 3k rpms either. Drive the sucker when you get it...

the engine is built to handle those levels of stress with relative ease. I will say this though. Many have said the same thing and once you put that chip in, you will want to take advantage of it. So don't kid yourself into thinking you won't. Sure you probably won't be looking for races on friday night or be taking it to the track but you will want to make use of that extra power.

I would make sure you have done the timeing belt change though. Your age car will need it fo sure. Adding more power will be making the engine work harder.
