Default Chip Question

Should you send in your chip for mod or get a spare one?

Default Re: Chip Question

If you have the money and your dealer is not chip friendly, then I'd get a whole new ECU that is already chipped. I have no idea of how much this will run. Probably in the ~800?? Depending on your car. You'll have to get a cost answer from somebody who knows better than I do.

With a whole new ECU I think it is better because you can just stick your stock unit back in before services and they won't know anything is up. Apr has a system that is suppose to be able to keep people from finding out. Check out their site to see if you might be interested in that.=www.goapr.com

Me personally, I like GIAC. When I am ready to get a chip, I'll probably go with a spare ECU that is chipped with this chip. Why? Just because, I don't know why.

Default When you get your Garrett chiip you can have the shop put your stock chip on a board so you can put

it back in your car when you go to the dealership for service. It will only cost you around $50 to have them do this. That way you will save around $750 over getting a spare ECU. That is a whole lot of mod money in the bank.

Default I still went for the spare ECU

I wanted the stock ECU to be untouched, plus its a 10 minute swap which Velocity does. (Gives me time to talk with Jeff about future stuff.) Diffently more expensive though $525. But since I've had to swap 6 times in the last 4 months the peace of mind seems worth it. Now I should have done that to the Tip ECU too a but forgot about the tabs that break off when they open/close it.
