See, I don't even have my A4 yet and already I'm being beaten to the punch! He's right, for the money you spend on a chip you'll gain less than 20 hp. You need to join the 1.8 crowd.

In your case...
...I doubt it will significantly shorten the life span of your engine. If anything, it'll optimize the fuel maps and timing for better power production. Some will say it's not worth it, some say it will. Up to you if you wanna justify spending ~400 for and extra 15-20 hp.

That's a load of crap. It's definitely worth it. Have you ever actually driven a chipped 2.8???.....

You guys will spend a grand on an exhaust that maybe gets you 15 hp. But somehow $300 is not worth it for 10 hp??? That's some interesting math ya got there.
I chipped my 2.8, and it made a great difference. I highly recommend it.

People think because it doesn't gain you as much HP or Torque like the 1.8T that it isn't worth it.
There's more to it than HP... like maybe the fact that helps out the flat spot through the RPM range, improves throttle response, raises the RPM limiter.
I'm so sick of hearing people bash the 2.8 like it's over priced and over wieght. We own the same friggin car people... with different engines! Is it gonna make a huge difference? I doubt it... so the 2.8 is a bit heavier, how many people push their cars to the limit on public roads and are decent enough drivers to feel the difference? Show of hands please! And if your raising your hand, put it down cause your a moron and unsafe driver for doing that on public roads!
