Climate Control Problems
I have a 1999.5 A4 1.8TQ with 157,000 miles on it and running strong
Right before the cold weather started, my in dash outside air temp display started showing -57 or -58 and then sometimes the display will not show up at all. This problem is intermittent with displaying the correct outside air temp.
This also seems to effect the climate control in the car. When I turn on auto, defrost, upper or lower vents I get a surge then trickle. Air out of different vents no matter what I have it set to seems to move at random every few minutes. I think I can here the motors moving the different gates to, but I'm not sure all of them are working properly. It got a little exciting when a snow storm hit and my defrost could only keep little 'windows' open in the windshield on the highway! Also the air temp never gets hot it will go warm and occasionally warmer and occassionaly colder.
I pulled the following codes for the HVAC controller:
HVAC
VAG-COM Version: Release 303.1
Control Module Part Number: 8D0 820 043 N
Component and/or Version: A4 KLIMAAUTOMAT D54
Software Coding: 00140
Work Shop Code: WSC 06335
3 Faults Found:
00603 - Footwell/defroster Flap Positioning Motor (V85)
41-00 - Blocked or No Voltage
01272 - Positioning Motor for Central Flap (V70)
41-00 - Blocked or No Voltage
01271 - Positioning Motor for Temperature Flap (V68)
41-00 - Blocked or No Voltage
I was thinking this would be a climate control relay or something that effected multiple climate control systems that would throw all these errors along with the outside temp problem, but maybe they aren't related?
I would love some help or direction on this before I go start swapping things at random $$$

Thanks in advance,
