Clutch problem????
On the way to jury duty this morning at low speeds the car would make this loud clicking noise, which sounded like it was coming from the transmission area. It happens when slowly accelerating and goes away when I puting in the clutch. It starts to come back right at the clutch engagement point. Could it be a bad throw out bearing? Almost 170k miles on the stock clutch. I'll go out later to check under the car to see if it's something with the suspension or axles. Too cold right now. :-)

how long will it last? Is it safe to drive to a shop to have them do the clutch? I'd love to do the job myself but I just don't have the time/tools.
I'm thinking it might be worth it to find a used 2.8 tranny so I can get rid of the clicking noise in 1st gear too.

Where are you located again? I can hook you up with a 2.8 tranny.. that would be the smartest move..
one that I plan on doing next spring.. my clutch can't handle the tq right now and slipps.. while the 1.8 gearing is just horrible (plus I have a noisy first).
I would do the tranny and clutch together. Let me know if your interested in the 2.8

I'd definitely do that. The next weekend I'm off is Sept. 23-24th. If that doesn't work give me a time and I'll get it off from work.

I still need to get my manifold in and pull the motor for cam seals if you want ;)
what a fun weekend that would be.. If I pulled the motor I would want to have some internal work done.. so maybe next spring.
But the mani needs in asap.
