Clutch problem....

Default Clutch problem....

I'm driving to work to day and I pull away from a stop light and rev up to redline in first. I go to shift to second, but it doesn't go all the way into gear (maybe 10% of power to wheels). I shift up to third and fourth and the rpm's stay at about 4,000 - 5,000, again no power. So I push the clutch in all the way and let rpms fall to idle. Finally it goes into third gear, and is working fine...then came the burnt clutch smell. I assume this means that my clutch is on its way out, but could it be something else? Maybe the slave or master cylinder?

Default you sure you didn't just smoke it really hard? Is it still a problem?

if you slip it TOO much in first, you will continue to slip through second too...

Just let it cool off, and drive nice on it for a minute or too, I bet you are fine...

you know your clutch is gone when you are cruising at like 25, and you gas it up to 45 and the engine just breaks loose of the tranny and flies to redline, but with no power...

than you know it is GONE...

That could (probably is) be it, but would it still slip when I upshift to 3rd and 4th?

possibly... I have never pushed it that far... but I would imagine maybe... is it a problem still?

No, I let the RPM's fall and it was fine...Thanks for the help/peace of mind.

Default Slipping from 3rd to 4th means you need a new clutch pad, at least (more)

Get the clutch pad replaced now and you might not have to pay the major bucks for a new flywheel. If you wait for total failure, you'll be into big bucks for the flywheel.

you are probably fine... if it acts up again, but I wouldn't sweat it now...
