2000 model A4 1.8t quattro AJL motor (132 kW Euro/Australian spec)
Car has been sitting in the body repair shop for a week for a minor repair. She often sits under cover in our winter weather (down to -4) for a week or two, so I don't think that's significant.
The repairer called to say the car was ready but it wasn't starting. He had disconnected the battery and a couple of ground connections whilst repairing the LH door skins, front bumper and boot.
I took my VCDS over and came up with the following:
Part No: 8D0 907 558 DA
Component: 1.8L R4/5VT MOTR HS D01
Coding: 04001
Shop #: WSC 85555
1 Fault Found:
18010 - Power Supply Terminal 30: Voltage too Low
P1602 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent
Readiness: N/A
I spent most of the day in the body shop today and got nowhere. The ground I covered was as follows:
Replaced the battery with an almost-new one.
Checked the fuel supply whilst cranking.
Checked the plugs for wetting.
Checked the ignition coil packs for spark whilst cranking.
Replaced the ignition module with a spare.
All fuses OK.
If I switch on the headlights and crank her over, the lights go out while she continues to crank strongly.
Anyone got the faintest notion how I get my wee beastie going again?
All contributions gratefully received.
Cheers
kermac
