Code below odometer.
My 1997 A4 1.8T quattro has been showing this code for some time now. If I remember correctly it used to be a 1 before there was a 2, and there was nothing before that, just the trip meter. It only comes up after switching on the ignition and flashes for about 10 seconds before returning to the trip meter. I had always figured it was some sort of a service reminder, but I hooked the vag up to it and reset the service reminders and it is still there. Did I not do the SR reset properly? What does it mean and how do I get rid of it?

It's an inspection reminder.It can come on based on mileage or time. You probably reset the mileage but not the time.
On the earlier 95-97 cars there are several different reminders.I think ross-tech has additional info on channels 5-8 settings.
