Code for Ignition Coil?
Manual says not to drive the car with Engine light flashing, and car is missing so bad probably couldn't do it anyway.
Don't want to pay to tow the car to the dealer, but would like to read the engine code to confirm coil pack suspicion. Will code tell you which cylinder is bad? Any way to read the code without an Audi VAG tool (used to do it with a Voltmeter on a Mitsubishi). Anyone know a place to rent a VAG tool in NVA?
Appreciate any help!!
Unforunately, after replacing the part (very straightforward) I have absolutely no spark. Engine turns over, but that's it.
I replaced the Bosch original with 4D0905351 (HUCO 13 8055). From reading the boards, sounds like this should work with the 98.5 1.8T, no?
I did so little to the car (other than the two screws to change the ICU), I'm thinking it must be the wrong part. At least it fired on 3 cylinders with the old part :-).
Appreciate any help!
The HUCO install came with a small tube of silicon grease, presumably for heat disapation. I put a *thin* layer across the bottom of the ICU. Is the bottom plate used as a grounding connection too, or just for heat disappation?
Could this be why I have no spark any more? Appreciate any help!
1) car experienced missing and flashing check engine.
2) Performed DIY test of Ignition Control Unit - found cylinder 2 was bad.
3) Purchased and installed HUCO 4D0905351 as replacement. (touched NOTHING else)
4) Tried to start car - absolutely no spark; engine turns over.
5) Reinstalled old part (expecting to see 3 of 4 cylinders fire). Same symptom as with new part; no spark!
6) Rechecked connector and pin cleanliness - all good.
Can someone suggest what's going on? Could the ECU be in an odd mode after part change? How can I troubleshoot further? I'm at a total loss.
Thank you!
