Code P0130 - B1 Sensor 1, O2 sensor malfunction - Is this passenger side pre cat O2 sensor?

I Have the 1996 A4 Q 2.8L. I was just wondering which O2 sensor Bank 1 sensor one was referring to. Thanks

Can use a generic O2 sensor or will I lose performance and/or is their any other disadvantages???

You could check for a variant of a VW sensor that could be used......

but a generic o2 sensor isn't in your best interest, no.

For a 12v, I don't think the cost for the o2 sensor is that much anyways.

Is there only one O2 sensor before the Cat??? I recall there also being one on the Header.

Is this correct. IF so, do I replace this one or the one directly before the Cat. Thanks

There's only one o2 sensor before the cat, and one after.

Replace the first one, yes. Should have a black electrical connector with 4 pins/terminals in it.

No more CEL????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok, I filled up my tank at a different gas station, and the next day when I went to turn my car on, there was no more CEL. I know the code is still stored in the computer, but does this mean that there is no more problem??? or should I still replace the O2 sensor? Thanks
