Default Coilover Problem?! Help please..

Hi I just recently installed vogtland 968382 coilovers. Rear installed perfectly fine however I cant lower the height on my front ones. I have enough thread that i can lower it however when i do leave at least 2 inches of thread on the bottom it leaves me about 2-3 inches of space on the top on full droop, like i can move the springs up and down. Seems like the springs are short. Am i missing something? So what i did for now is just set the front ones just as far as the spring can hold. And it sets the car at like stock height. Do i need helper springs or some kinda spacer to expand the spring? Sorry this is my first time buying and installing coilovers. Thanks!

When I build my "real" race car setups, that's normal. Most of the "street" kits use stock style springs so that isn't an issue. Kits that use "real" race springs (e.g. 8"-ish, 2 1/4" id, linear rate, flat ground ends, constant coil diameter) usually are like that. You can either get some tender springs (little flat springs that take up the gap, but collapse easily) or just not worry about it. I looked those up, and they come with the tender springs - did you buy these uses and don't have them? Only really comes into play if you get the wheels clean off the ground. Even then, worst case is you get a "bang" as the springs seat. When I jack up my race cars, I just make sure the springs center when I put them back on the ground. You could also put some limiter straps on so the struts won't expand that far, but I wouldn't bother.

Thanks Spinnetti. Gave me peace of mind. Im just glad everything went normal on my install then. I thought i screw up on something. Really appreciate it. Yeah also heard the bang when i tried setting it lower which really scared me lol. And also i called the place where i bought it from and they said they only advise going as low as 25 1/2 inches from fender to ground height which where my car is set at atm otherwise i'll have to deal with the spring being loose.

No problem.. Some go lower than that, but you get tire wear issues if you go too low, and then you start hitting stuff in the road, and curbs and what not.. I started at about 24 1/2", and that just didn't work for me. I'm around 25" now, which makes me still have to be careful of stuff in the road, and approach angles, including my driveway! 25 1/2 is a good street setting - blame that in part on the crazy long front overhang our cars have (plus my Oettinger front end doesn't help any)
