Is this a common problem?

My dashboard if lifting/peeling in the front. I thought it was supposed to look that way cause it was like that when I got it and didn't really pay attention till I saw the dash on a brand new GTI. Mines a 96, is this common with the newer models as well?

should push back down under A pillar cover, even has a lip to fit under there

I'd guess it happened because it's BLACK and lots of direct sunlight during the day will cause ANY plastic to start doing funny things.

Word to wise: start using heat shield during day.

No good, it's like petrified and curls back up when I push it down.

It'd be a pain in the *** to get glue under it without making a big mess so I will end up living with it.

you have to use a heat gun... to push it back down....

the sun probably baked the hell out of it... and now its tending to flex... so apply some heat and push it down.. that should work

yes dash delamination common with 97 and older A4's...

fabrication process improved in 98+ I think.

Mine's peeling up in the middle, but not at the A-pillar. Similar prob, though.

I think its just a 96 thing, havent heard of a 97 yet with that problem.
