Compression Test
Hey everyone. I am new to this forum (but not to car forums). I am about to purchase a 1996 A4 2.8 with 35,000 miles on it. I am religious about getting a compression check done on the car. Can you lead me to some "simple" instructions on doing a compression test on this motor. (easy way to disable fuel injection; pull a fuse maybe?) I have the tools to do it, just need a little guidance on doing it for this specific motor. I couldn't find anything on this in your FAQ. Pull Fuse number 28 it's on the left side of the fuse box 5th large one down...
that should be the one for the fuel pump.

Anyone else done a compression check on A4?
Not that I don't trust James, but has anyone else done a compression check by simply pulling the #28 fuse? If that fuse simply disables the fuel pump, wouldn't you also need run the car until it runs out of fuel (in the fuel lines)?
I would hate to do the compression check myself in the seller's driveway and destroy his car :-)
