why does the climate control panel flash on and off when i first start the car?

Same thing here; except now it doesn't even light up half the time I'm driving, I found that once you apply pressure somewhere on the plastic housing around the screen sometimes it comes on. I took mine apart cleaned the lcd contacts and it worked flawlessly for a week, then it started doing it again.

Well it all works fine but at start up it wil flash on and off at least ten times or so then it will be normal.
Wondering if thats a normal start up thing or is something broken?

I had a 96 and now have a 99. Two very different climate control heads, neither one of them does that.
