cv boot!

If it still has a good amount of grease

the joint should be ok.

how do i know if there is grease in there w/o opening it?

you boot is gone and will only get worse...some grease is still in..

there but some has been launched out. A shoop would charge about $200 + parts for shop to repair...or DIY for $25. Dealer is even higher

there is some grease on the calipers.

whould you replace the joint?

joint no, boot yes. And just use brake cleaner on the calipers and give the

wheel liners and inside of rims a good cleaning with simple green or any degreaser even dawn. cv boot grease is nasty stuff. Plus the spinning of the axle causes it to get thrown everywhere, depending the split in the cv boot.
