Default CV boot help...

OK, this may be a really stupid noobish question but i have never done my brakes and in the write up it does not talk about taking off the rotor and caliber. I see no other way around it though but i am having a hell of the time taking off the 2 15mm bolts holding the caliber on. Do i need to take this 2 bolts off? Is another way to swing this off? Thanks.

Ken

Default yes you need to remove the caliper carrier from the knuckle (wheel bearing housing)

so that you can change the rotor.

Default the caliper is held on by allen bolts iirc and the caliper carrier is held on with 2x 17mm bolts

Default Turn the wheel to full lock, and use a larger (1/2" drive) wrench

for more leverage. You'll be able to stick the wrench outside of the wheel well to get some torque on it and break the caliper bolt free.

Or just remove the two hex bolts holding the carrier onto the upright, and pull the carrier and caliper out of the way (attached together).

You do not have to remove the brakes to change the CV boot, if that's what you are asking.
